Base Camp is located on a private estate, this apartment is part of our residence with it’s own secluded entrance with total privacy. We offer you all of the comforts of home and the splendid seclusion of the mountains.
The maid’s wing of our brick Dutch colonial home is situated on a sixty acre estate with magnificent views from the estate and from atop Mount Beacon of our Hudson Valley and the Schwangunk Ridge.
The apartment has a kitchenette with toaster oven, microwave, coffee machine, small refrigerator and sink. There is no oven.
The downstairs is quite comfy with a full sofa and a wood burning stove. A bank of book shelves offers many great reads for those who like to kick back and immerse themselves in a good book. For guests we have a flat screen TV included. The large comfortable sofa can be used as a bed for those who do not want to share the queen bed. Additional bedding is available for the sofa with extra blankets for cool nights.
The apartment is not for anyone disabled or with balance problems (steep stair, see living room photo on our AirBnB listing). There is a new queen platform bed with a Serta pillow top mattress. Fluffy bedding and air conditioning.
For cooler nights there is a wood stove with the fire laid for you and ready to go. which is very comfortable and plush bedding with fluffy pillows and extra blankets. The bathroom (fully tiled bath), upstairs. Ample closet space in the bedroom as well as two dressers.
Beacon, NY has many great places to dine as well as live entertainment. Metro North Railroad runs every day with a stop at Beacon, from Grand Central Station in Manhattan, (total time approximately one hour, forty minutes). Base Camp is just a five minute drive from the Beacon Rail Stop. Walking distance to downtown Beacon, taxi service, car rental available through Enterprise.
