We had a fantastic stay at Base Camp. It is exactly how it is described – a really great base to explore Beacon. Andrew was a perfect host, very informative and accommodating.

Base Camp was exactly what we were looking for – a cozy getaway in stunning surrounds just over an hour from New York City. Beacon is a great little town, and neighboring Cold Spring is also a gem. We went hiking up Beacon Hill – – steep mile hike from Base Camp. The cottage itself was very cozy and charming. Andrew was a great host. Very considerate. I would stay again for sure.

Andrew was a fantastic host. Very quick to answer emails/texts and really accommodating overall. The house was clean and exactly as described in the listing. We loved staying here and would definitely come back again and recommend this house to others!

Great experience over all. We drove up on a snowy and cold day from Manhattan, and Penelope’s son was there to greet us in the evening. She showed us the place and new a great deal about local restaurants and activities. He also had stocked muffins and coffee for our breakfast the next morning. The house is on a hill and rather picturesque.

The space was very cozy with a wood burning fireplace stocked with wood, jazz music playing on the stereo and a large oversized couch for curling up with one of the many books on the bookshelf. The coffee, tea, bagels, butter and toaster were a nice touch and much appreciated during our relaxing morning. The location was very pretty– a beautiful property and very quiet, and just a mile from Main St. The pillows on the bed weren’t great, but everything else was perfect.

Cute, cozy & comfortable place — close to nature, but not too far from town. Penelope and Andrew were helpful and welcoming. Great overnight retreat from the city.

Andrew’s place was great! Very cozy and everything we were looking for on a romantic Valentines. He was a friendly host and even drove us into town to get back to the train station. (He would have picked us up too, but he was snowed in at the time of our arrival. Ha.) We wished we had stayed the whole weekend!

Penelope picked us up from town in her car, which was very nice of her. She also laid on breakfast and built a fire in the old wood stove, in case we wanted it. (We did!) Location is at the foot of Mount Beacon, which was ideal to take a morning hike all the way up to the picture-postcard reservoir and be back for lunch! It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the heart of Beacon town, but enjoyable. Penelope was always available by text to answer any questions.

We had a great stay at the base camp. Andrew picked us up at the train station and later brought us to Dia which is a must see. We were able to walk back to the base camp from dinner so that was great. We live in the city and are avid walkers so for us it was fine. It does get a little dark as you get close to the house so our iPhone flashlights were very helpful! It was a fun town and we even took a trip to Storm King from there. We used a car service. We had a great time at Base Camp — we actually ended up walking all the way from the train station down Main Street, which was great (we’re New Yorkers, so the 30-40 minute walk wasn’t too terrible). The apartment was very private and cozy. We also were in walking distance to Mount Beacon, which was an awesome climb to the top. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend and Beacon is a great little town!
