Our host was generous and thoughtful. We had a wonderful experience.
Penelope was right there to greet us when we arrived. The cottage is cozy and a nice place to stay for one night while visiting the area
Andrew was very polite and accommodating. He gave us a good list of things to do and see, as well as restaurant and bar recommendations. The place was very cozy and clean and exactly what I was looking for. I only stayed for one night and left first thing in the morning, but we had all the privacy we needed and Andrew was just a text away if we needed anything.
Penny and (I believe) her son met us and were very generous and informative. The unit was sweet and rustic and comfortable. My only regret is we didn’t have occasion to use the real fireplace! The location is just outside Beacon and practically a straight shot from Main St.
Base Camp is a great place to stay in Beacon – which is a hard place to find anywhere to stay. It’s a cozy, two floor carriage house that feels like home. Tea and biscuits by the wood burning fire in the evening; coffee, bagels and banana bread for breakfast. Close to town but you probably will want to drive.
Penelope picked us up from the train station right when we arrived. The house is very cozy. It’s an easy walk to get into town, and perfect if you want to hike up Mt. Beacon as a trailhead is right there. We had a fire the night we stayed, and saw turkeys in morning.
Penelope’s guest house was absolutely adorable. It was very spacious and my only regret is that we didn’t get to spend more time in it. Penelope was also a wonderful host – left us food for breakfast and some snacks which was very sweet. I also got a chance to hike up the trail behind the house (which Penelope’s son gave me some tips on) and it was a great hike. The bed was also very comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Andrew was really as friendly of a host as anyone could ask for. Super-accommodating and kind, with extra touches to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The area is lovely and the house, gazebo and guest place is very pretty and peaceful from the outside. Thanks for welcoming us to enjoy the gazebo also, Andrew! Beacon as a city is absolutely great and we had a blast, between exploring Main Street, eating, drinking, and local hikes (do Breakneck Ridge!). I think the actual Base Camp apartment…
Penelope was a great host. Her cabin was very lovely and comfortable. We stayed for a night and slept in – missing the hike with easy access from her land. We’d consider coming back again for sure.
Cute, cozy & comfortable place — close to nature, but not too far from town. Penelope and Andrew were helpful and welcoming. Great overnight retreat from the city.
