Penelope’s B and B is very cozy and our stay was very comfortable!
I could not recommend Penelope’s place more highly. Wonderful location – all the peace and quiet of a remote cottage but within a walk (or kind lift from Penelope) of a friendly street full of bars and restaurants. Gorgeous cottage with charm. Lovely touches like a wood fire, breakfast and fab toiletries. Be sure to check out the farmers market on Sunday, and try the trek up the mountain direct from the back garden. I made it half way! Highly recommended.
Base Camp is right on the outskirts of Beacon. A 1/2 mile walk to town (and one of the best restaurants/beer bars!) It’s a private cottage with a very cozy living area downstairs complete with wood burning stove (which we actually used on what was likely the last cold Spring evening of the year). The bedroom and bath are upstairs. The stairs are quite steep and perhaps not for everyone. We had no issues. Penelope was a great hostess. We will likely stay there on our next visit to Beacon.
We had a great time at Base Camp — we actually ended up walking all the way from the train station down Main Street, which was great (we’re New Yorkers, so the 30-40 minute walk wasn’t too terrible). The apartment was very private and cozy. We also were in walking distance to Mount Beacon, which was an awesome climb to the top. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend and Beacon is a great little town!
We had a great stay at the base camp. Andrew picked us up at the train station and later brought us to Dia which is a must see. We were able to walk back to the base camp from dinner so that was great. We live in the city and are avid walkers so for us it was fine. It does get a little dark as you get close to the house so our iPhone flashlights were very helpful! It was a fun town and we even took a trip to Storm King from there. We used a car service. Andrew told us he would have driven us if …
Soothing jazz music was playing as we entered the space, and plenty of nice amenities were around to be enjoyed. The rental had a nice, writerly feel to it and was very cozy.
Base Camp was a lovely stop on a tour of the Hudson Valley. It was a short ride from the main attractions in Beacon and right at the base of a beautiful hike on Beacon Mountain. The place has a rustic, quaint feel that gives a lot of character.
Penelope place was fantastic and exactly as described. Very cozy with a lot of character. Perfect for a weekend get away.
Penelope was right there to greet us when we arrived. The cottage is cozy and a nice place to stay for one night while visiting the area
Base camp is the ideal lodging for a few friends or a couple looking for a quiet getaway. Tucked right along Mt Beacon, the description of the place is accurate. Cozy living area and kitchenette downstairs, with fireplace and TV, and bed and bath upstairs. Since my girlfriend and I were just looking for quiet time away from NYC, we spent most of the time sitting in front of the fire watching TV – perfect. Whats great is that you can walk down the hill to Main st and grab a bite. Andrew as a host…
