We had a fantastic stay at Base Camp. It is exactly how it is described – a really great base to explore Beacon. Andrew was a perfect host, very informative and accommodating.
Very helpful hosts that went out of their way for us. The space was comfortable and we felt at home in no time. Their home is also located directly next to the trail head leading up to lambs hill and mount beacon, which was a huge bonus for us. Would definitely return.
Penelope was a wonderful hostess. she gave us excellent dinner recommendations. the accommodation was perfect if you can handle steep stairs to the loft. The house was cozy and inviting, very romantic. Probably want to rent a car and not rely on Taxi service in Beacon, but we were able to walk into town.
We had a great stay at the base camp. Andrew picked us up at the train station and later brought us to Dia which is a must see. We were able to walk back to the base camp from dinner so that was great. We live in the city and are avid walkers so for us it was fine. It does get a little dark as you get close to the house so our iPhone flashlights were very helpful! It was a fun town and we even took a trip to Storm King from there. We used a car service. Penelope’s charming unit was as described. Quiet and private and right at the bottom of Mt. Beacon which was perfect for the one hour hike to the top. Penelope was there to greet us upon arrival. We were only there for one night. The breakfast was simple and a nice touch. Best to drive to Main Street because it’s a fairly long street.
Very accurate to the posted description. Lovely set up – Penelope left us breakfast and stocked the mini fridge. After check in, she left us alone which was appreciated. Super hot weekend by the AC set up kept us cool. Highly recommend.
We had a great time at Base Camp — we actually ended up walking all the way from the train station down Main Street, which was great (we’re New Yorkers, so the 30-40 minute walk wasn’t too terrible). The apartment was very private and cozy. We also were in walking distance to Mount Beacon, which was an awesome climb to the top. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend and Beacon is a great little town!
Base camp is the ideal lodging for a few friends or a couple looking for a quiet getaway. Tucked right along Mt Beacon, the description of the place is accurate. Cozy living area and kitchenette downstairs, with fireplace and TV, and bed and bath upstairs. Since my girlfriend and I were just looking for quiet time away from NYC, we spent most of the time sitting in front of the fire watching TV – perfect. Whats great is that you can walk down the hill to Main st and grab a bite. Andrew as a host… Read more
We had a wonderful and comfortable stay in this pretty location. Just what we needed to feel away from the city amid the woods. Yet within striking distance of the town and all it has to offer.
