We had a great stay at the base camp. Andrew picked us up at the train station and later brought us to Dia which is a must see. We were able to walk back to the base camp from dinner so that was great. We live in the city and are avid walkers so for us it was fine. It does get a little dark as you get close to the house so our iPhone flashlights were very helpful! It was a fun town and we even took a trip to Storm King from there. We used a car service. Andrew told us he would have driven us if we had asked which I thought was very nice. The property is lovely and the accommodations are great. There is a sink and coffee make and toaster and fridge, no stove top. Just perfect for us because we did not want to cook but did make coffee (Andrew left us great coffee, cream, scones and butter!). Andrew also showed us all around town when he first picked us up and brought us back to the train for our early morning departure. I found the bed upstairs very comfortable. It is an inflatable mattress because that is the only thing that could make it up the stairway, however, I think it was incredibly firm and comfortable and had a great two nights sleep and my back was out so that is saying an awful lot for how comfortable it was!! I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it. I also really recommend the restaurant at the Round House! We ate there twice 🙂
