Andrew’s property is cozy and beautiful, and he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable on our stay. The spot is highly recommended, and I can’t wait to come back up to Beacon and stay again.

Andrew’s place was great! Very cozy and everything we were looking for on a romantic Valentines. He was a friendly host and even drove us into town to get back to the train station. (He would have picked us up too, but he was snowed in at the time of our arrival. Ha.) We wished we had stayed the whole weekend!
Great experience over all. We drove up on a snowy and cold day from Manhattan, and Penelope’s son was there to greet us in the evening. She showed us the place and new a great deal about local restaurants and activities. He also had stocked muffins and coffee for our breakfast the next morning. The house is on a hill and rather picturesque.
Base Camp is right on the outskirts of Beacon. A 1/2 mile walk to town (and one of the best restaurants/beer bars!) It’s a private cottage with a very cozy living area downstairs complete with wood burning stove (which we actually used on what was likely the last cold Spring evening of the year). The bedroom and bath are upstairs. The stairs are quite steep and perhaps not for everyone. We had no issues. Penelope was a great hostess. We will likely stay there on our next visit to Beacon.
Very accurate to the posted description. Lovely set up – Penelope left us breakfast and stocked the mini fridge. After check in, she left us alone which was appreciated. Super hot weekend by the AC set up kept us cool. Highly recommend.
Penelope picked us up from the train station right when we arrived. The house is very cozy. It’s an easy walk to get into town, and perfect if you want to hike up Mt. Beacon as a trailhead is right there. We had a fire the night we stayed, and saw turkeys in morning.
Penelope was a great host. She made sure that we were comfortable and made it easy to check in.
Penelope picked us up from town in her car, which was very nice of her. She also laid on breakfast and built a fire in the old wood stove, in case we wanted it. (We did!) Location is at the foot of Mount Beacon, which was ideal to take a morning hike all the way up to the picture-postcard reservoir and be back for lunch! It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the heart of Beacon town, but enjoyable. Penelope was always available by text to answer any questions.
We had a quick stay but it was great – Penelope was there to help us in, and very kind and accommodating. From the back yard you can hike right in to Mt Beacon which was great.
We had a fantastic stay at Base Camp. It is exactly how it is described – a really great base to explore Beacon. Andrew was a perfect host, very informative and accommodating.
Base Camp was exactly what we were looking for – a cozy getaway in stunning surrounds just over an hour from New York City. Beacon is a great little town, and neighboring Cold Spring is also a gem. We went hiking up Beacon Hill – – steep mile hike from Base Camp. The cottage itself was very cozy and charming. Andrew was a great host. Very considerate. I would stay again for sure.
